Wedding Shoes :)

Very cute- and a top choice for simplicity. I love the D'Orsay cut! :)
Just very fun! I don't know if this is the perfect choice for my dress though.

Shoes don't get any happier than this!

Really liking the shiny brooch to match the little bit of rhinestones on my dress!

Wedding hair!!!

I went to a cute place called Madame Makeup today and tried out my wedding hair! See what you guys think...(Adam doesn't remember how to get to this blog, so it's no big deal :)

I think I will ask for it with slightly more volume (I can't help it, I'm from Texas and love big hair and hair spray!) but I like the messy side bun thing we have going here... ;) I will also have either fresh flowers or a comb with beads and crystals. Can't decide right this minute...

Love ya'll!

Inventory...

So, I took inventory, and these are the "green and gold" things I have from my wedding...

Two cake stands (and looooots of clear ones.) And I think 16 of these champagne glasses. Four green and 12 yellow.

Color Changes!!!

so this is the first option. and i think it's my favorite. this is the color green i think of... well sort of.

The is option 2. with the white sash. and i think the sales lady was correct, it looks better with the green sash. the rest of the images were things i found and saved a while ago. go figure that it was the same colors. :)

i love you ladies! hope all is well. Ü

Light and Sparkles

Here are some of my favorite things that "expand" on our twinkle lights in the trees...

My FAVORITE is this with the chandeliers hanging outside!

I also like all these different shiny picture frames-- could be pretty on the guest book table or by the cakes. I'm not sure if we will do assigned seating, but it would be neat to have printed lists of each table in elegant font in each frame.

I like the sheer curtain with lights behind it...

Creative Save-the-Dates!!!

Originally, Save the Dates were sent out as simple cards that said, very simply, "Save the date of Saturday, July 1st, 2009, for the wedding of Ann Love and Mark Jones." A simple card is still one of the most popular ideas. Unlike the strict rules that are put on the Wedding Invitations, you can do just about anything you want to with your Save the Dates. Use the opportunity to add bold colors or fun, unexpected graphics on your cards. Clue guests in to the "theme" of your wedding or the colors that you will be using. It is popular to put a calendar on your card that has the month of the wedding with a red circle around the date.

There are so many cute things you can do with a "Ticket" themed Save the Date. You can have concert tickets made up on your home computer or through an online order like the one pictured in red here from party 411. Instead of a concert ticket, what about a ticket like the ones they use at the fair? Have some printed up with your wedding information and include a roll of "tickets" with your save the date card. This one in orange says "Our Ticket to Love." Be creative and come up with your own saying that makes a clever play on words.

For a Destination Wedding or a wedding where a lot of people will have to fly to get to the event, consider having mock travel documents made up. The Boarding Pass pictured here is from Custom Paperworks, and you couldn't ask for a more original and fun idea! Also consider a fun passport to love! If you want to make your save the date "passport" several pages long, you could include a small map of the area, directions, and even information on the destination city included.

Find a traditional photo booth where the pictures come out in strips and have some fun! You can make cute signs to hold up as each shot is taken, saying "Save" "the" "date" or anything you want! "We're" "Getting" "married" with a final card that gives the details would also be very cute and creative!

I found this great example on Flicker, where they manipulated their photo to have their pictures in black and white with their wedding colors in red and aqua. You can reproduce these and fold them to make a small card. Another possibility would be to include the photo strip in a larger card.

i thought this one was super cute! i know it's a bit girlie.... but if you used a classic font and did knots instead of bows... it could be nice.

more traditional stuff from martha stewart. i like the one on the bottom the best.

this was probably one of my absolute favorites. where your "chosen engagement picture" could be on one side of the post card with the little mini envelope on the other side. with the mini save the date! too cute!

The List: The 4-5 Months Out Version

As my wedding approaches, I've decided to introduce a new blog feature. I'm calling it "the list." If you are a bride, you are in the possession of at least one wedding list. I'm looking at mine now, as published by a major bridal publication. I thought, before these lists gave us a collective nervous breakdown or a full blown anxiety disorder, we should discuss it. You know, as a group. Because I'm not sure what is more ridiculous: the items on the list, or the fact that they break down every item into 55 silly steps, making you think that buying your shoes will take a month of your time. I plan to only be in love with the person I'm marrying at the wedding, not the person I'm marrying and my shoes and my dress and my caterer and the favors and the DJ and the best-bridesmaids-dresses-ever andandandandand....

I'm on the "4-5 months before" page. Here is a short list of my recommended activities for the month:

* Book the rehearsal dinner venue (it's a welcome picnic in our case, and the meadow is reserved. Also, can I point out this is not obligatory?), and the venue for the day-after brunch (No. No, no, no. The day after the wedding is my time. I'll be doing exactly what I please.)
* Checking on the wedding invites (ok, this actually seems fair)
* Select and order a cake - attend several tastings (really, several??)
* Get "showered" (I will be, but that's not on *my* list, I just show up. Also? Totally not required. But anyway, list points out I should do this now, because they have PLANS for me in the coming months, and I will not have free time. Any free time.)
* Purchase shoes and start dress fittings (really? Does purchasing shoes take months and deserve it's own line item? And how hard is it to make a dress fit? Anyway, since we made mine, its going to fit. I do need to sew on some lace though. And make a veil. But these items don't seem to make the list.)
* Make sure to insure your engagement ring. (First of all: any ring worth so much I had to insure would be part of a down payment on a house (or a boat, fun!))
* Schedule hair and makeup artists. Make a few trial appointments with local experts. Take photos so you can remember exactly how you looked. Go out to a fancy dinner after each trial. (A Few? Ok. At this point I'm starting to wonder if they are aware I have a job, and a non-wedding life. Suddenly they are booking up every moment of every weekend. Also, this is getting unbelievably expensive, and we haven't even hit the wedding yet.)
* Choose Songs. Songs for when the wedding party is introduced. Songs for during dinner. Songs for getting the party started. Keep a running list of songs you do and do not want played. Are you OCD? If not, become OCD. (See, this is nervous breakdown material. Apparently I need to hire a Hollywood pro to write a multi-hour soundtrack. Ack. Ack.)
*Grooms: Give all of the groomsmen the information they need to buy and/or reserve their attire. (Um, we told them suits. Do we need to walk them to the store? Whattheh*ll.)
*
Brides: Choose your bridesmaids' accessories (shoes, gloves, etc.) and either purchase or pass along purchasing information (Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Gloves? Right.)
* Brides: Experiment with your beauty routine, self-tanners, and facials. (Wait. Excuse me. Full stop:

DID I JUST GET ASKED TO TRY OUT SELF TANNERS? Girlfriend, please.)

* Plan welcome baskets for guests. A few ideas: a detailed itinerary, a list of restaurants in town, transportation options, locally produced gourmet foods, a hand drawn (really!??!) map of local attractions, a sweet smelling candle to freshen the room. (are you effing kidding me? What now I'm a travel agent too? I can't assume that my guests are full grown adults who can figure out how to take a bus and find a restaurant. Sweetbabyjesus. Why did I even sign up for this?)
*Make or buy favors. Allow extra time for custom-made favors (i.e., chocolates in a preprinted box). (Well, I don't even need to comment on this. Favors send me into a blackout rage period. But wait. Wait. A PREPRINTED CHOCOLATE BOX? Why did I even bother with those six cake tastings if I'm just serving chocolates? GARRRRR!)

And just wait till next month. The three month list will require me to quit my job, get some heavy duty anxiety meds, and hire a wedding planner. It should be good times.

Jadeite and Lawn

This is a great teal color... I know it's not lime green, but if you get frustrated with the green, it's an option.
